Since 1994, the German Mobility Panel each year collects information about when, why and with which mode of transportation the people in Germany are on their way. For this purpose, households are interviewed about their everyday mobility behaviour. The household members fill out a diary where the report all of their trips in the course of a week. With this information they make an important contribution for a reasonable design of the transportation systems. Furthermore, data about mileage with motor vehicles in private households and fuel consumption are surveyed in MOP every year.
